5 Tips to Get Past the Awkward Stage

The “Awkward Stage”.

This comes at around the 3 to the 4-month mark of the hair growth journey. It is the phase where everyone around you is starting to ask you,

“So, when are you going to cut it?”

Your hair is too short to tie it up, too long to do anything else with it and you are having the realisation that this is going to take much longer than you thought.

So, in this blog post, I am going to give you 5 Tips to Help you get Past the Awkward Stage.

  1. Have a vision in mind

The first thing is to have a final goal in mind. It could be a length, a style or a celebrity’s hair. Whenever you feel like cutting your hair, just imagine why you started in the first place. When I started my hair growth journey last year, I really loved the half up half down man down, that Jon snow look from Game of thrones. So that’s number one.

  1. Stop calling it the “Awkward Stage”

The second tip is to JUST OWN IT. Just accept that you are not going to look your best for some time and it’s okay. Cause when this is all over, you will be looking like a badass and then people will appreciate your hair.

  1. Use a hairband/bandana/caps/hats

Use hairbands like these (visual) or headbands like these or you can wear caps or hats. Personally, caps and hats are not my things. But these do help in keeping your hair in control and for bad hair days when your hair just doesn’t look good.

  1. Join a community of long hair men

There are a lot of Facebook groups and pages on Instagram, in which there are many guys who are also going through what you are going through and discuss everything about hair.

  1. Learn more about hair - products/styles/haircare

And lastly, keep yourself interested in hair. Learn as much as you can about hair and haircare as you can. It is easy to become disinterested, when you don’t see any progress, especially during the awkward stage. So, follow long hair guys on youtube like Thomas in Action, or Trav White or me and learn all about hair.

So, those were 5 tips on how to get past the awkward stage. Hope you are better equipped to handle the “awkward” stage.
